Sandra LaPrall

SandraLaPrallHeadshot.JPG

Sandy is a self-taught artist who works in a diverse range of mediums and subject matter. She uses color as an element to convey emotions in her art. Whether bright and bold or soft and muted, color can make one see or feel an emotion that is expressed without words. Acrylics allow her to paint in a more expressive way with lots of texture. She also loves the translucent look of watercolor batik which provides a different feel to a piece due to the layering process of paint and wax on natural rice papers. These mediums allow her to express her visual soul and to share a feeling, place or experience when words cannot fully convey that emotion.

Sandy is currently the President of the Florida Women’s Arts Association, a Lifetime member of the Art League of Daytona Beach, member of the Jacksonville Coalition of Visual Arts and a founding member of the Riverfront Arts District in Daytona Beach. She has won numerous awards, her art has been featured on magazine covers, she has had a solo pop-up exhibition at the Ormond Memorial Arts Museum and her art is in homes throughout the Midwest and in her home state of Florida.
